01The challenge

Threescore sells safaris, city escapes and group retreats to travellers who are researching from abroad. Enquiries came in through scattered channels, and there was no way for a visitor to go from "this looks amazing" to a confirmed, paid booking in one place.

02What I built

  • A fast, image-rich catalogue of tours and destinations that loads quickly on mobile networks.
  • Personalised itinerary requests and enquiries captured in one dashboard instead of scattered inboxes.
  • Online booking with integrated payments, so travellers can commit the moment they are ready.
  • Technical SEO from day one, so the site is found by people searching for East African travel.

03Key decisions

The technical calls that mattered — and what they meant for the business.

Real-time backend without a DevOps bill

Convex gave us a live database and server functions with zero infrastructure to manage — the business pays for usage, not idle servers.

Payments that work for local and international guests

Squadco handles card payments in multiple currencies, so a traveller in London and one in Nairobi get the same smooth checkout.

Performance as a sales feature

Optimised images and server rendering keep pages fast — every second of load time on a travel site costs bookings.

Enquiries that route themselves

Itinerary requests and bookings flow into one dashboard automatically instead of being copied between inboxes, so no lead waits on someone remembering to forward it.
